Quality Practice Award 2005 - 2010

For the QPA the practice had to provide a range of evidence of achievement in the following areas:

  • Medical Records

  • Prescribing/repeat prescribing
  • The Practice as a learning organisation

After this evidence was assessed to be satisfactory we were visited by an assessment panel appointed by the RCGP. They assessed us in August 2005 and recommended us for the award. After their assessment they not only recommended us for the award but informed us that they were impressed with:

  • our excellent teamwork and communication
  • the strong mutual support network amongst reception staff with good and focused training
  • the excellent organisation within admin team with individuals taking on different responsibilities
  • that receptionists took ownership of waiting room displays
  • that practice nurses were involved in all aspects of Practice
  • the extended role of Health Care Assistant
  • our good staff induction
  • our open plan staff room
  • the good practice leaflet
  • setting up of Patient Focus Group
  • that clinical audits being used to bring about change
    improved management of patients with mental health problems
  • our excellent achievement of the Quality and Outcomes Framework figures improved dramatically
  • the excellent use of protected learning sessions to develop whole team
  • our open atmosphere for learning and willingness to embrace change
  • evidence of our commitment to meet new challenges and to continue to improve the care offered to patients

In March 2006 we had a formal presentation ceremony when Lord Warner, Minister for Health, presented us with the Quality Practice Award which has pride of place in our upstairs waiting area.
